A friend who peaked as sunshine in my life
I often used to wonder what's actually the purpose of our life and why exactly are we running a rat race? The dilemma used to keep me up night after night.A generation full of opportunities and easy access to almost everything why are we still not happy in general?
Until i realised happiness can be chosen.By all means of course life will be a rollercoaster of emotions and hardships but what matters the most is how are we spending our time.In 2022 ,I came across to this anonymous platform where i was spending my time talking to strangers i will never meet or have access to their information and vice versa. As usual i came across different people from all around the world. It was quite disturbing at first because people can be creepy but for some reason i was still hoping for someone i can talk to.Looking back at those days i think i was just being a teenager who was bored or maybe i had a tiny leap of faith that i will find a genuine friend which seemed pretty exciting for the moment.
I remember talking to this person i didn't even know the gender of but the conversation we were having was something i never experienced my entire life with any other friend and as a matter of fact i grew up with a lot of friends. All i knew about this person was they're a cancer survivor. To my natural instinct i tried to sympathise them but then i started to realise this person was very optimistic about life.We exchanged our information and i was pretty shocked to know that we both were from the same country.
Fast forward to 2024, i have been in touch with this friend of mine who showed me life can be beautiful even when you're not having a good time. There's always something positive going on around us that we need to notice. It could be a dog enjoying rain, it could be a little girl visiting her mother on the graveyard with some flowers. The most valuable lessons i learned about life is from him and i am happy to see this evolved version of me whose view on life has changed.I surely do have dull days but i'm not as pathetic as i used to be wasting my time rotting in bed wondering if life would change without actually taking a step to change it.
I am grateful to have a friend who showed me the dark alleys can be beautiful as well as the hardships of life.
